Tuesday 19th - Dubrovnik

Lower part of track, through forest
Today’s highlight was our climb up Srd Hill behind Dubrovnik to the fort above. It took 1½ hours up a long zigzag track (rather than 5 minutes on a gondola) but the walk was most enjoyable, and the views superb. Nothing special  to see at the top (old Napoleon forts are a dime a dozen in these parts), but of course the view. It really does show how well-preserved Dubrovnik is – a perfect mediaeval walled town.

View from the top
On our return bought our cards and kicked them off with the maritime museum and the Rector’s Palace. Neither were outstanding – the main feature of Dubrovnik is the town itself. Chose a different spot for dinner, but a step back from last night’s. We figure we should eat well here where prices are good, then maybe ease back in Italy.
