Started the day with a run, though Alastair had done a workout first and didn’t accompany us. The weather is still the standard cloudy and variable fare, with afternoons turning a little darker and the odd shower passing over.

| Ducal Palace, Lucca |
Walked into Lucca for a coffee, a good fossick around and a visit to an immigration display at the Ducal Palace. A very good exhibition, and for once free. Late afternoon we sat and had beers and an amaretto at La Droghueria, where we had hoped to get some aperitivo edibles, but only got a plate of what looked suspiciously like Cheezels. We followed that up with dinner out, at the restaurant we had gone to with Carmelo and Tania. It is very hard to find what we really wanted – a big fat plate of good pasta. In Italy it is sold as primo piatti, the first course of a two-course dinner, and so it is disappointingly small. Unfortunately the service was pretty poor, and the food nothing special, so we will have to try somewhere else another time.
