Up early for run – rather hot and quite humid after last night’s rain, and hard work. I did some more work in the morning, then after lunch we went into Lucca to see if we could find a bar with the Roland Garros men’s final on TV. No such luck. We saw a few minutes of it in a betting outlet window, and heard a little using the internet later on, but Italian bars are more designed for outdoor seating and the inside spaces tend to be small and cramped.

We also tried to find a good bike shop for Alastair and an army surplus shop I’d seen previously, but again no luck with either. To top it off, the standard afternoon thunder went the next stage and tried to drench us on the way home. For the second time there was a puddle in the middle of the 1st floor room, but where it came from is a total mystery as the ceiling and walls appear to be bone dry.
